City council, mayor, district council and district administrator are up for election
The local elections in Beckum are used to elect the council and mayor as well as the district council and district administrator. The next election will take place on 14 September 2025.
Zwei Wochen später findet am 28. September 2025 die mögliche Stichwahl des/der Bürgermeisters/Bürgermeisterin statt.
Wichtige Hinweise:
- Briefwahlunterlagen können nur noch bis zum 12. September 2025, 15:00 Uhr, beantragt werden. Jedoch können Briefwahlunterlagen nicht mehr online über Oliwa beantragt werden.
- Briefwahl an Ort und Stelle:
- Briefwahl in der VHS in Beckum bis zum 12. September 2025, 15:00 Uhr
- Briefwahl im Bürgerbüro Neubeckum bis zum 12. September 2025, 12:00 Uhr
- Briefwahl in der VHS in Beckum bis zum 12. September 2025, 15:00 Uhr
- Wird glaubhaft versichert, dass die Briefwahlunterlagen mit dem Wahlschein nicht zugegangen sind oder verloren gegangen sind, kann bis zum 13. September 2025, 12:00 Uhr, ein neuer Wahlschein mit den Briefwahlunterlagen erteilt werden.
- Wenn bei einer nachgewiesener plötzlicher Erkrankung (ärztliche Bescheinigung vom 14.09.2025) der Wahlraum nicht oder nur unter nicht zumutbaren Schwierigkeiten aufgesucht werden kann; in diesem Falle kann der Wahlschein noch bis zum 14. September 2025. 15:00 Uhr, ausgestellt werden.
- Der Wahlbrief ist der in der Rücksendeanschrift ausgewiesenen Stelle so rechtzeitig zuzuleiten, dass dieser spätestens am 14, September, 16:00 Uhr, dort eingeht. Später eingehende Wahlbriefe werden nicht berücksichtigt. Wahlbriefe können auch in den Bürgerbüros – im Rahmen der Öffnungszeiten – abgegeben oder in den Hausbriefkästen an den Rathäusern in Beckum und Neubeckum eingeworfen werden. Am Wahltag ist der Einwurf bis 16:00 Uhr nur noch im Hausbriefkasten des Rathauses Beckum möglich.

Who can vote?
Eligibility to vote:
Persons who are eligible to vote in the elections on 14 September 2025
- German within the meaning of Article 116 (1) of the Basic Law or citizens of the European Union,
- has reached the age of 16 (born on 14 September 2009 at the latest),
- have lived in Beckum without interruption since at least 29 August 2025 - or their main residence if they have more than one home,
- are not excluded from the right to vote and
- is entered in the electoral roll.
The electoral roll will be created as of 3 August 2025.

Information for persons registering, deregistering or reregistering after 03 August
To be able to cast your vote on election Sunday, you must be registered on the electoral roll.
Entry in the electoral roll:
- All eligible voters - including EU citizens eligible to vote - who are registered as having their main place of residence in Beckum on the cut-off date of 3 August 2025 (42nd day before the election) are automatically entered in the electoral roll. This group of people will automatically receive an election notification letter by post.
- Eligible voters who move to Beckum from outside or within the city of Beckum in the period from 4 August 2025 to 29 August 2025 will be entered ex officio in the electoral roll of the voting district relevant to their new home and will receive an unsolicited election notification letter.
- If you move away from the town of Beckum and the district of Warendorf before election day, you will lose your right to vote and will be deleted from the electoral roll. At the same time, you will receive the right to vote at the place where you moved to, provided this is in NRW.
- If you move from Beckum to another town in the district of Warendorf after 30 August 2025, you will be removed from the electoral roll in Beckum and will only be registered for the district elections at your new place of residence. The same applies if you move from the Warendorf district to Beckum. Postal votes already cast will become invalid.
- If you have not received an election notification letter but believe that you are entitled to vote, please contact the Citizens' Office for clarification.
Online application for election assistants
During elections in Beckum, hundreds of electoral assistants are deployed at polling stations and for counting postal votes. Most of these electoral assistants are citizens of the town of Beckum. If you are eligible to vote in the upcoming election, we cordially invite you to participate in an important part of democracy.
