Parts of the railway station building in Neubeckum

Utilisation by the local history association finalised - city supports commitment

Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich and association chairman Stefan Gödde have now officially sealed the contract.

This means that the volunteer group "Bahnhofsretter", which is part of the local history association, will now be able to use the former reception hall and adjoining rooms independently. The aim is to test the building as a meeting place with predominantly community-orientated activities.

As part of the contract, it was also agreed that the rooms would be equipped with water and electricity connections and that an existing toilet facility would be put back into operation. The realisation is being carried out by the station rescuers themselves, accompanied by the city of Beckum, which is also making a financial contribution.

"We are delighted to support the civic commitment of the station rescuers and are making the building available free of charge," emphasises Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich.

Stefan Gödde emphasises the advantages of the agreement: "It creates planning security for events and enables permanent equipment with furniture and stage elements."

The station building is currently secured with a construction fence for safety reasons, as parts of the façade are damaged. Once the renovation work is complete, the fencing will be removed. Safe accessibility for users is already guaranteed.
